LATIN AMERICA / GLOBAL / USA

Mr. Berenstein has more than 20 years of experience in senior leadership and management roles at Barclays Capital, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, Barclay Investments and Southstone Capital, originating, structuring and distributing complex credit, derivatives and special situations transactions across Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. His career has taken him from Buenos Aires to London, New York, Miami and Madrid. At Morgan Stanley, he led Latin America Sales & Origination for private credit and structured finance, distributing to sovereigns, banks, pension funds, insurance companies and family offices globally. At Deutsche Bank, he built and led one of the top EM structured finance franchises in Latin America as a top producer; at Barclays Capital, he was a founding member of the EM Structuring desk in London before leading its expansion into Latin America and the Caribbean out of New York.

Independently of the large banks, Mr. Berenstein has originated and closed more than USD 800mm in structured lending, leveraged finance, private equity and real estate transactions across the US, Latin America and Australia — first through Barclay Investments, where he helped acquire and grow a 50-year-old US broker-dealer, and today as an investor and partner in Southstone Capital, the structured lending, special situations and real estate advisory firm he founded in 2018 — with top tier international counterparties.

Mr. Berenstein holds a BA in Economics from Universidad de San Andrés (Argentina) and is a CFA charterholder. He is a native Spanish speaker, fluent in English, and an Argentine-Polish (EU) dual national.
