Mr. Bishop has extensive experience in the energy industry including corporate finance, private capital, corporate development, financial leadership, and energy specific fund management.

Investment banking activities include domestic and international mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, public and private equity and debt, syndicated bank facilities, restructurings, valuations, fairness opinions and takeover defense.

Mr. Bishop began his career at Exxon Company USA. After earning an MBA in Finance, he joined the CS First Boston New York based energy investment banking team before taking increasing leadership roles with the energy teams of Burns Fry and Bear Stearns, also in New York. He then joined Principal Financial Securities in Houston (a precursor of First Union Securities).

Mr. Bishop then reentered industry as CFO / Corporate Development officer of PE backed GFI Oil and Gas and successfully raised several rounds of financings, advanced the company’s projects in SE Asia, and successfully managed the sale of the company to LSE listed Salamander Energy PLC.

He joined Salamander where he put in place a syndicated international bank revolving development facility for the SE Asia fields, helped bring in additional private equity and negotiated several additional acquisitions of concessions in SE Asia. Mr. Bishop then joined Ironman Capital in Houston where he helped manage public and private company energy-focused equity funds and raise capital for an additional PE energy fund. Over the last several years, Mr. Bishop has been engaged in advisory services primarily to the upstream oil and gas sector.

At Exxon, Mr. Bishop was part of Exxon Company USA’s Exploration Department. Mr. Bishop developed numerous exploration prospects for Exxon in the Gulf of Mexico and supervised critical offshore drilling and evaluation processes. He was a member of Exxon teams that made several significant discoveries including the 250 MMBOE Ram/Powell field.

Mr. Bishop is active in several energy industry organizations including the Houston Energy Finance Group, the Houston Producers Forum, the Society of Independent Exploration Scientists, and the Houston Geological Society.

Mr. Bishop earned a BA degree from Colgate University, a M.S. degree in Geology from the University of South Carolina, and a M.B.A. degree from the University of Texas.
