Bernds career in banking includes a number of leading regional and global management positions. He has extensive experience across restructuring, business transformation, critically financial advisory as well as capital-market, institutional and bank financing for infrastructure, energy and transport projects.
As CEO of Kommunalkredit Austria AG (2018-2024), Bernd transformed the bank from a municipal financier to a European champion for infrastructure & energy financing. During his tenure, the bank delivered outstanding results: a quintupled valuation based on a Revenue CAGR > 90%, a 25% RoE after tax on 18% CET-1, a 37% CIR and no loss history. His duties entailed Banking, Markets (incl. Treasury) & Corporate Services (Communication, HR, Legal, Strategy).
Bernd acted as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of KA‘s consultancy arm for the management of public support programs in the areas of environment, climate protection and carbon management.
Prior, Bernd‘s career entailed an 18-year period with Deutsche Bank („DB“), where he was responsible for its global asset finance & leasing, specializing in infrastructure & energy, transportation and tax & leasing globally, and structured finance business (ABS, CRE, illiquid trading) regionally in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Before that, he was Head of Project Finance.
At DB, Bernd was a Member of the Global Structured Finance Executive Committee as well as the Corporate Banking & Securities Executive Committee Germany.
Previously, Bernd Fislage worked for NatWest Markets and BHF Bank. He is a graduate of the Technical University of Darmstadt and holds a masters degree in electrotechnical engineering.
